A hot water test that comes back above the threshold, an exceedance noted on a spreadsheet and then forgotten for lack of a follow-up check, a temperature reading nobody quite knows how to judge depending on where it was taken: the operator of a site with a collective hot water system carries this vigilance alone. This application keeps the sanitary logbook for each system and calculates the response after every test, without ever carrying out the test itself.
Who the application is for
For French sites with a collective hot water system: hotels and tourist residences, campsites, care homes and medico-social establishments, healthcare facilities, sports centres, schools with boarding, collective housing — anywhere people take a shower.
What the application does
- Calculates the response after each test, based on the result in CFU/L: simple monitoring below 250, stepped-up vigilance from 250, immediate corrective action and a follow-up test from the regulatory threshold of 1,000 CFU/L.
- Refuses to close an exceedance without corrective measures described, and without a follow-up test, carried out later on the same system, that has come back under the threshold.
- Records each temperature reading and judges it against the point it was taken: at least 50°C at the outlet or on the return loop, at most 50°C at a usage point in a room used for washing.
- Schedules the next annual test on its own once a result is recorded.
- Keeps every exceedance not yet checked by a follow-up test visible in a dedicated list.
Day to day
- Declare the hot water system with its type of establishment, its storage volume and its set temperature.
- Record each test with its sampling point, the laboratory and the result in CFU/L; the response then appears on its own.
- If the threshold is exceeded, describe the corrective measures taken, then attach the follow-up test carried out on the same system.
- Enter your temperature readings as you go; a reading outside the norm appears with the anomaly explained.
What the application does not do
- It does not carry out or commission the tests, which are the work of an accredited laboratory.
- It does not operate any equipment and does not trigger any thermal or chlorine shock treatment.
- It does not cover cooling towers, which fall under separate regulations.
- It does not replace the advice of a hygienist or the competent authority, nor your duty to inform the regional health agency: the regulatory thresholds and obligations can change.
Getting started
Declare each hot water system with its type of establishment, its storage volume and its at-risk usage points, then enter the tests you have already carried out so the history and the next deadlines are set up.
