Investor pack: your management figures without re-keying

The periodic shareholder report is still too often put together on a spreadsheet: you export the ledger, copy it over, format it, and the gap between the spreadsheet and the accounts gets discovered in the meeting, in front of the shareholders. This application reads your posted accounting entries and produces the report for you.

Who the application is for

For business owners and the people in charge of shareholder or investor relations, who prepare a periodic report and want figures coming straight from the accounts, without re-keying or redoing the formatting every time.

What the application does

  • Calculates eleven indicators from posted accounting entries alone: revenue, cost of sales, gross margin and its rate, operating expenses, net result, cash and its change, trade receivables, trade payables, equity.
  • Shows, for each indicator, the exact formula that produced it and the account types used.
  • Compares each period to the previous period of equal length, and shows "new" rather than a percentage when the previous period was at zero.
  • Exports a multi-sheet workbook: summary, monthly series, and the source of the figures.
  • Produces, in the full edition, a PDF document with its charts actually printed, and a slide presentation built from reusable templates.
  • Can automatically produce the next report at the end of each period, always as a draft and never distributed on its own.
  • Can add, as an optional feature closed by default, a register of share quantities by holder, without ever calculating a valuation.

Day to day

  1. Create a report and set the period: the quarter just ended, by default.
  2. Calculate: the indicators and monthly series are read from your posted accounting entries.
  3. Check the source column if a figure surprises you, and add the management comment.
  4. Export the workbook, or, in the full edition, print the document and the presentation.
  5. Mark the report as distributed once sent: it then refuses any silent recalculation.

What the application does not do

  • It does not certify anything: this report is a management snapshot, neither annual accounts, nor an audited interim statement, nor a valuation.
  • It does not produce any forecast: the only figure that looks like one, the months of cash remaining over a loss-making period, is a simple division, and the report says so.
  • It does not call any outside service: every figure comes from your own accounts.
  • The cap table, if you switch it on, never values anything: no price per share, no amount, no legal or financial conclusion.
  • It does not replace the financial statements produced by an accountant, or their own review of the accounts.

Free and full editions

The free edition already reads your posted accounting entries and produces the eleven indicators, their source and a multi-sheet Excel workbook, without making you re-key anything. The full edition installs on top without losing anything, and adds the PDF document with its printed charts, the presentation built from reusable templates, automatic production at each period, and the optional share register feature.

Getting started

Check that your entries for the period are properly posted, choose the periodicity of your reporting, and decide who, in your team, can create, calculate and distribute a report.
