Two regulatory dates

Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 distinguishes the use-by date, for highly perishable foods, from the date of minimum durability, the best-before date.

Lot dates in Odoo

  • Expiration date: beyond it, the product must no longer be used.
  • Best-before date.
  • Removal date: the lot must leave sellable stock.
  • Alert date: a warning is raised.

Removal strategies

FIFO picks the oldest receipts first; FEFO picks first the lots with the nearest removal date. FEFO assumes every lot carries reliable dates from receipt.

Limits

The ERP calculates dates from durations set per product. Choosing those durations and labeling remain your regulatory responsibility.
