Placing packaging on a European market means registering, getting a number and reporting your tonnage — and in Germany, a registration number alone is not enough without joining a collection scheme. Finding out afterwards that a market was opened without valid cover risks a stop to sales, not just a fine. This application keeps your registration numbers by country, weighs your packaging by product, and refuses any market placement that is not covered.
Who the application is for
For producers, importers and distance sellers subject to extended producer responsibility for their packaging, in France and in Germany. Rules and registers are specific to each country — in France the ADEME's SYDEREP register, in Germany the LUCID register and participation in a collection scheme (Systembeteiligung) — and they change: check them with your compliance scheme or the competent authority.
What the application does
- Keeps your registration numbers by country and by stream, with their validity period and the compliance scheme you belong to.
- Carries, for Germany, participation in a collection scheme (Systembeteiligung), separate from the LUCID registration number and just as mandatory.
- Breaks down each product's packaging into weighed components — box, padding, film, label — each with its material and its weight in grams.
- Refuses to confirm a market placement if no valid number covers the country and the stream on the date of the sale, or if the product has no weighed packaging.
- Refuses, specifically for Germany, a market placement under a valid LUCID number while participation in a collection scheme does not cover the date.
- Works out tonnage by material from confirmed market placements, and refuses to finalise an empty return or one without a valid number.
- Checks every night for countries where a registration is nearing its end or where a sale happened without valid cover, and flags it without writing on your behalf.
Day to day
- You enter your registration numbers by country and by stream, with their validity dates and, for Germany, your collection scheme.
- You break down each product's packaging once, component by component, in grams.
- You log your market placements; confirming checks cover for the country, the stream and, in Germany, the collection scheme.
- You watch the countries flagged as uncovered and the registrations nearing their end, reported every night.
- You work out the period's tonnage, finalise the return, then record the reference once it has been filed with your compliance scheme.
What the application does not do
- It does not register anywhere and issues no number: for France, it reads the ADEME's SYDEREP register, never writing to it.
- It never says that a number is valid or that a business is in order: these registers and rules change, and that judgement belongs to your compliance scheme or the competent authority.
- It does not work out any eco-contribution: the scales are specific to each compliance scheme and change every year.
- It does not tell you which countries or streams concern you: these rules are national and change.
- It does not manage billing, logistics or the sales catalogue.
Getting started
Enter your registration numbers by country and by stream, with their real validity dates; for Germany, also record your collection scheme participation as soon as you create the registration. Then break down, once and for all, the packaging of each of your products in grams, before you start logging your market placements.
