A management plan left in a binder, a PEFC or FSC certification nobody can confirm still covers the parcel that was cut, a volume sold without knowing what remains available: French forestry often keeps this information on a spreadsheet, or in memory. This application brings the parcels, the plan, the cuts and the certified timber chain of custody together in one place.
Who the application is for
For forest owners, foresters, cooperatives, logging operators and sawmills managing parcels in France, under the French forestry code and, for timber destined for the EU market, under the European deforestation regulation.
What the application does
- Keeps a record for each property with its area and its own statutory management plan threshold, adjustable case by case.
- Describes each parcel with its area, its species, its certification and its geolocation.
- Records the approved management plan, its period and its programme of planned cuts.
- Records each completed cut and fixes its certification at the exact date of the cut, never moving it afterwards.
- Tracks timber sales, their certified mention and their destination, comparing the volume sold with the volume cut.
- Calculates the chain of custody by species: opening certified stock, certified volume cut, certified volume sold and closing stock.
Day to day
- Create the property and its parcels, entering the geolocation as soon as possible rather than at the last minute.
- Record the approval of the statutory management plan with its number and date, then its programme of planned cuts.
- Record each completed cut, linked to a planned cut from the plan or to an off-plan cutting authorisation.
- Enter each sale with its volume and its certified mention if any, checking the geolocation if it is destined for the EU market.
- Calculate the chain of custody for the desired period, and validate it once no species shows a negative certified balance.
What the application does not do
- It does not draft or approve any statutory management plan: approval remains that of the regional forest property centre.
- It does not issue any off-plan cutting authorisation: it only records its reference once issued.
- It certifies nothing itself: PEFC and FSC are private schemes whose silvicultural criteria the application does not verify.
- It does not display any map and does not call any mapping service: the geolocation remains coordinates or an outline that you enter.
- It sets no deadline for the geolocation linked to the EU market and does not replace the advice of your trade body or the regional centre: the rules do change.
Getting started
Check with your regional centre the statutory management plan threshold that actually applies to your property before setting it, then enter your parcels with their geolocation and, where they exist, their PEFC or FSC certification dates.
