Plan directeur, calcul des besoins, réassort : qui fait quoi ?

Trois niveaux de planification à ne pas confondre.

Three different questions

The master production schedule answers “how much of each family to produce, week by week?”. Net requirements planning answers “which components to buy or make, and when?”. Replenishment answers “when to top up a standard item?”.

Diagram — Three planning levels, from the most aggregated to the most detailed.
  • Master schedule

    • Product families
    • Horizon of several months
    • Enterprise edition
  • Requirements planning

    • Bills of materials and lead times
    • Proposed purchases and orders
    • Make-to-order
  • Replenishment

    • Min/max rules
    • Standard items
    • Community edition
Replenishment rules for five workshop products: stock, forecast, route, minimum, maximum, quantity to order
Min/max replenishment: Odoo suggests the quantity to order based on the forecast (2,540 screws, 535 O-rings, 195 blanks to manufacture). Screenshot from an Odoo 20 test database, fictitious company Mécanique Exemple SAS, September 28, 2026.

In Odoo

  • Min/max replenishment rules and manufacture or buy routes are in Community.
  • Make-to-order triggers orders linked to a sales order.
  • The master production schedule belongs to the Enterprise edition.

Choosing the right level

Make-to-order production with few items often relies on make-to-order and replenishment of standard components. Make-to-stock production with seasonal peaks justifies a master schedule.

Limits

None of these mechanisms automatically accounts for finite work center capacity. The result remains a proposal to be arbitrated.
