Why a sheet

“Connecting machines” can mean reading a counter, receiving alarms or driving a recipe. Each case needs different data, a different protocol and a different owner.

The questions on the sheet

  • Which event triggers the exchange, and in which direction?
  • Which identifiers link the machine to the order, the lot and the work center?
  • What frequency, what volume and what acceptable delay?
  • Who secures the network and access?
  • What happens in case of an outage, a duplicate or a lost message?

Test before committing

A prototype on one machine, with real messages and simulated failures, is worth more than a compatibility promise. The test result sets the deployment quote.

Limits

Machine interfaces remain to be assessed at Omnifloo Prod: no compatibility is announced without a sheet and a test.
