Name one outcome
Begin with a measurable result such as responding faster to enquiries, issuing accurate quotations or knowing what is in stock. An application is useful only when it supports an agreed workflow.
Build the smallest coherent set
A website may need Contacts and CRM before Marketing. Online sales may need Products, Sales, Inventory, Accounting and a payment provider. Dependencies matter more than a long feature list.
Check data and responsibilities
Identify who creates, approves and corrects each record. Decide which existing data is reliable enough to import and which history should remain archived.
Verify the target version
Installed on Odoo 19 does not prove Odoo 20 compatibility. Record the tested image, module commit, installation result and end-to-end journey before presenting an application as operational.
Add only after adoption
Review the first workflow with users, correct recurring causes and then extend the platform. This keeps training, permissions and support understandable.
